Broken Promises, Broken Spirit, Broken Body
In this audio session with Julie and Dr. Huizenga, you will learn:
- how Julie in her emotional exhaustion begins to make plans to save her sanity and perhaps the marriage by strategizing a respectful exit
Here's Julie's summary of her situation:
My husband had (is having) a two year affair with a woman no one respects.
Told me at one point she was his best friend. For the past 2 1/2 years I have asked him, told him I couldn't live with, etc. thinking I have done all I can do to try to understand whatever it is he is needing from this woman (which I never will).
I left in September '06 after about making myself sick. At that time, he told me I got his attention and he was embarrassed and ashamed and would never have put up with what I have.
Well, that didn't last long, only until she got rid of her new boyfriend. He still calls her constantly and spends a lot of time with her. I try not to check on him anymore and tell myself it doesn't mean anything, but when he spends nights, buys Valentines, etc. I feel it does mean something.
We have been together for 34 years, I am 54 years old. We have acquired a lot together and I really don't fell like starting over, but I can not get peace of mind.
Maybe it shouldn't matter and I should let it go, but I don't know how. I really need help, maybe just some one to talk to?
I think my most pressing questions are: How can I trust anything he tells me when he said he would not do this again after he knew he hurt me the way he did, but continues. I really don't think he can love anyone.
Second, how can I really forgive and put this behind me, I can't talk to him, he just thinks I should trust him. And the one that I know only I can answer, is do I stay or go?
Dr. Huizenga's review and the audio tape with Julie is included in the new series: 19 Live Infidelity Coaching Sessions with Dr. Robert Huizenga, The Infidelity Coach.
