Husband of 25 years had an emotional affair with the a much younger “friend”. I knew it for sometime but it was denied and i was told I was over reacting and crazy. Caused total chaos when the truth came out , lost a close family friendship, his career and my trust. Kept it hidden from my adult child and friends and have been navigating this alone for a year now. Not knowing all the sorted details have been hard for me because I’m one that needs to piece everything together. Over time I have realized what he did had nothing to do with me. Our marriage wasn’t the greatest but it was his decision to betray me. I was in the same marriage too and didn’t make that choice. I never thought I would stay but here I am but I can say that my boundaries are firm. I’ve learned his choices are not a reflection of me but of him. I have found freedom in that and also making myself a priority. Slowly finding peace and hope you do too

Tue, 08 Jun 2021 03:43:25 +0000http://www.break-free-from-the-affair.com/blog/?p=203#comment-259073My husband had an emotional affair with the mother of my granddaughters best friend that lasted a few weeks but was very hot and heavy…. he raved on to me at our dining room table how fabulous her breasts looked in a picture she sent… like none he had ever seen! They made arrangements to ‘get together’. I believe him when he says nothing physically happened but I think it was only because they got caught first. She said she has always dreamed of having sex with a cowboy and he said he could make that happen. And on it went until I found a picture of her genitalia on his phone and confronted him about it.
The affair ended but she only lives two doors down so has caused chaos in our lives to the point I have had to call the police because of her threats to me.
We have been together for 16 years and very good friends since childhood. We are both in our sixties… she is 40.
I am devastated, feeling so betrayed and hurt. This happened months ago and I have been in therapy but the pain is very intense. I don’t want to make the changes that separation would cause but I don’t want to live with a cheater. I am so torn. I was at the point of attempting suicide but am past that although I often feel I don’t have the strength to go on. I struggle to get through the day. I am a mess. He says I should just put it behind me and we can move forward with an even better life. He says he has changed. I so don’t know and I don’t know what to do. I don’t understand how he could do this. I mean, that’s a seriously good point. Why bother trying to fix it, no matter which type of affair it was, literally do you want to go through that again? And why should you have to change the way you look at it and behave if their the ones that decided to go off. If they want to stay and work it out I don’t see why you have to walk on ice to help them see what they’re missing. Idk, I just feel worse reading the whole thing it’s not about love and it was never about love…it’s like okay well obviously they didn’t love me enough not to cheat.?

Hi Joe,
I hope you have found happiness. You are right infidelity robbed you of everything even the person you were of could have been. I made all the mistakes too. Now I find myself lost. Trying to find me. Thanks.

I was heartbroken like somebody just shot a arrow in my heart. I’ve been trying to work things out and get back with my wife for almost five yrs to see if any changes. But it’s seems like it not. So I’ve been pray and now I’m happy, I love my self and I move on. Things happen for a reason. Don’t be stuck in one way. There’s so many other ways for our life’s. Life goes On, be happy. I let my wife go cause I can’t change her.

Mon, 27 Apr 2020 09:40:36 +0000http://www.break-free-from-the-affair.com/blog/?p=203#comment-177154My husband of 24 3/4 years at the time, cheated on me emotionally with 2 different women over a space of 8 weeks.
If you knew my husband d you would know that, that was commitment..I am disabled with ms and other health problems but generally deal with them well, still have mobility etc,our son,20 at the time, heard everything from both women and his father, and whilst we went to marriage guidance,I still have not recovered.I am currently going through cbt therapy,as I have lost myself, and am just existing. We are still living together, but I know it is not going g to work from my point of view,as the betrayal, lies, deceit,Aggression, violence etc,has been too much.I am honest and tell him I love him but not the same, and he just won’t accept it.I have tried to leave with no luck,as he tightens the noise around my neck per day?I did get answers, but I accept that he will always hold close to his chest details of what really happened,I can’t move forward as I know details of what was said between the first one,and the second woman he compared me to,which was an insult to be fair. They say your not happy with your current situation til one day it changes as quick as a blink of an eye,and you have no say,or control over it,then it seems like all you want is the life back prior to that?I feel robbed of my whole relationship as I have never even looked at another man,and he knew how I felt about infeidelity,as I grew up with both my uncles doing it,so saw the devastation. My advice is stay strong, and you decide what you want from your life, don’t life in the shadow of your spouse, trying to please them,or change, this is not your fault,it was their choice to do what they did,now it is your choice to gain your own happiness and inner peace, time and patience,I am still on a long road,I didn’t not think I would get this far,but I have, you can do it too.The pain will ease, and will turn into a different emotion, this is a testing time, and it is only when you are faced with making decisions and choosing your destiny, that you realise how strong you are.i have shocked myself and my son,and I suppose in a way my husband?Dont give up,you are better than this.Sending my love to all who have had this betrayal done against them, joe,I admire you,and there will be someone who you can share your life with eventually.
