I can empathize with your sentiments its what i have seen and heard about from men who have cheated on there wives. I was cheated on by my wife. Her first justification, she didn’t think i loved her just that i like having her around. Our mistake 4 kids that we mentor to make people one day. One is special needs that require a life long care. That took our time away from each other. So i can see where your comments are valid for men. How ever read his needs and her needs and you will see for men and women mostly the needs are different priority. So treating the other the way you want to be treated is usually the problem. I am high on acts of service for showing love, that is not my wifes, hers is communication. So she talks to me I go off and fix or do something. Do you see the problem? I do now. It is important to let your partner know what you need and for you to know what they needs. As for what you are saying about most men and not showing appreciation, a positive psychology article expressed that men in general show appreciation more than women to their spouses, 70% to 60 % respectively. In my marriage I would say that this is true but I express it far more than my wife. I think it is because of her upbringing. I notice now that her parents do not compliment or basically talk nice about one another. Its not that they go out of their way to bash each other they just take each other for granted and are not engaged with each other. I think that happens in many marriages. As for the emotion physical intimacy craved by each gender, I had brought this up to my wife before her affair on two separate occasions when neighbors we knew were getting divorced. I said ” i don’t know what happened but men need sex and women need emotional support. if there is some thing you need tell me. She did not.

For instance, “how to keep your husband”, “how to cheat proof your marriage”. It seems to go on and on…..women get blasted with that kind of literature and counsel. Many men have caught on to the same type of thinking. I feel that fills the man’s mind with the excuses like their wife isn’t sexy enough, have big enough breasts, thin enough, pretty enough so I was attracted to other women. Kind of like, “he must be having a mid-life crises”. Women get tired of being the fall person for their husbands lack of self-control for what ever reason. I think that the men need to be more informed that a lot of marital problems stem from their lack of taking care of their wives emotionally. For instance, most men don’t realize that if they took the time to cuddle, show respect, compliment, etc that women respond to that with being more sexual, loving and sensitive. Men, you won’t get any good interest back on your money if you don’t make a good investment. Simple rule of thumb is to treat someone like you want to be treated. Women know that men are moved by sight but few men know women are moved by emotion.
